Getting on well with my renovation of the 03 250sl, rear end complete. I'm moving to the steering problem, feeling notchy so may be needing replacement bearings.
Any directions on where to buy them?
I found this but not sure if it's correct.
Advice please

I did get mine from https://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/?gclid=Cj0KCQjw5-WRBhCKARIsAAId9FmSVix7JXACj7UD0zHqj-MmrUhw5XZoQ6_0PgV6jQoR86k-EF3aJI0aAuY8EALw_wcB

But last 3 changes iv taken the measurements to my local bearing place and they do me a set for £20.00 - Heavy duety

Simply bearings always for me. All X9s use the same size so buy whatever quality you like from them. 3200 7x JA for lower and for the upper - 3200 6x FG.
You can punch out the lower outer race using a length of round bar if you feel for the lip and give it a whack at opposite sides a few times. The top one is probably fine as it doesn't take the impact so I'd just replace the lower one.

No
I gave the head a damn good squirt of duck oil when the cover was off the bars and the notchyness went.
Sold the bike now so really solved it.

You may find after a few miles you need to slightly nip up the adjustment, if you hear a rattle over potholes this is the symptom. It's a pain to have to lift off all the handlebar gubbins again.
I have got the knack of slightly over tightnening them initiall so they free off after a few rides. Too tight though and things really feel weird, almost worse than when they are knackered.
