Hi All

Does anyone know what size the oil level bolt is for the rear drive casing?  Mines started to weep, it was half stripped when I removed it when doing complete service after getting the bike, last dealer/owner who worked on it must have overtightened it.  I got away with putting in back in with some loctite but it's time to check the level again and it's going to strip it I'm fairly certain.

Thinking of use sump drain plug repair, but need to know the thread size?  It's probably the same size and the casing drain bolt, but I don't want to drop the oil until I can sort out the fill/level bolt thread, for obvious reasons.

I can't be certain but if its the same as the Beverly 350 it will be Part no. 847174 and is the same for drain plug. The workshop manual for the X10 gives a torque of 15-17 N.m for both drain and level plugs. Sorry I can't help with thread size from my own experience but S.I.P. list it as
PIAGGIO
Screw oil drain M10x1,5x10 mm, hexagonal with flange, gearbox oil, PIAGGIO
for PIAGGIO Beverly/MP3/X10 350ccm 4T LC

Hope that helps.

Hi Roadstar

Thank you for the info.  M10x1.5x10mm would sound about right.  The actual bolt/washer will be replaced by the sump repair kit items, basically you retap the casing out a mm bigger and fit the supplied bolt/washer.

The X10 350 and Beverly share the same power plant and parts No's are the same.

Yes don't remember having a dipstick on my X10 350. As for retightening, these are the sorts of things I do up "only just enough"

The 350 has an oil 'wet' clutch rather than the dry centrifugal type. Not sure if Piaggio ever extended the use of that design to other later models.

Finally got around to sorting the oil level bolt.  Had to reuse the standard washer as the casing has a slight counterbore, which was too small for the kit supplied copper washer.
