Hello Everyone!

Last winter I am upgraded my X9 125 to 180 from used parts. First I bought piston with rings, cylinder, head and exhaust.
When I unfortunatelly broke one of rings, I decided to replace every rings to new. Every valves were regrinded and lapped. So I replaced all the parts with new gaskets...

After the first rideout everythihng looks fine, the power and sound was like never before. I also noticed little bit more heating of the engine.
I thought that this can stop after few kilometers. But now after 500 kilometers its still overheating.
Before, with 125ccm cylinder I never had a problem with overheating. Now the temperature needle is always on the the second bar from the red zone (outside of town at 90-110km/h).
In the city the engine is heating more, usually the needle is one bar before the red zone when the radiator fan is switching on, and in the city is still switched on. Sometimes in high traffic the needle reach the first red bar.
I was very unhappy and I made some steps to solve this problem.

I bought a used carburettor from 180cmm engine, when i cleaned it I found that it has the same jets like 125ccm carb. I think there is some mess.
But I install the main jet, and the needle from this carb to mine, the engine still overheating.

Now i dont know that the problem is with cooling system or with the mixure or something else.
I will glad to every ideas!

perhaps try flushing the rad, and replace thermostat , also seems that the carb might struggle and or dare I say were the rings etc pointing in the correct direction, if the oil one isnt it could maybe restricting feed? doubt theres room for an electric fan like my Aprilia and Cagive thousand have, twin ones.No doubt I shall get shot down in flames for my amateur advices.

As well as both posts above, check the fins of the rad' are clean bud, it's amazing what effect a coat of 'dust ' can have

Check that the radiator is uniformly very hot. If it isn't there is a circulation problem such as thermostat, water pump, or air lock. If the radiator is properly hot does the fan cut in when the scooter is not moving? If the fan cuts in does it bring the temperature down as it should?

Hello,

The direction of the rings are ok. I did everything cleaned, so we can eliminate the carbon.
How I know the right time to replace the water pump? It is loosing the pressure and flow or it have problem with sealing? Why the X9 owners after some time replace the waterpump?

Mechanical damage of impeller?
Water stove on impeller?
Sealing problem?

The radiator is hot like every parts, hoses, water pump...
If I put the scooter on the stand and just idling, the fan bring down the temperature and switch off. But after short time the fan switch on again.

I will try to remove thermostat and take a ride without it. I will also try to clean the radiator from outside, there is my collection of butterflies.

After this two steps I will inform you about result!

Thank you!

One side of the rad should be cooler than the other so if it's hot all over there is no flow. Have you got the main hoses to the water pump on the right inlet/outlet and not crossed them over?
The fan switch is on the inlet to the engine side of the rad so should be the cooler side and so only turning the fan on when the water from the radiator into the engine is getting too warm.
