Anyone any idea what a 350 retails for new?

£5592 OTR, this appears to be the RRP according to UK brochure.

Does it ever? What is noticeable is that there is no difference in price between dealers any more. In the past dealers did compete to a degree but now every one I can find within 100 miles of my place is exactly the same price. Sweeteners of gloves, helmets or such is really no use as unless you are a new rider, you will already have these and you just end up with stuff you don't really want.

Scoot dude. I have skipped to the end of this post after reading you were in Lincoln! Richard at Jack Machins will be reluctant to let you test ride, it was only because I had recentl bought another bike from them that I felt able to persuade a test ride out of him.
I do very high mileage on my X10 500 and it's bloody good fun. Naked bikes hate it when I fly past them in bad weather, I rode all through this winter. The service intervals seem a bit close together, already on the third service and not had it a year.  If you want to have a look and chat and maybe a ride pm me.

Martin, what service interval are you using?
Originally the 500 like all the Piaggio motors had a 4000 mile oil change and belts at 8000 so a nice convenient combo. Then in about 2007 when the twin spark 500 and the v-twin 850 which is the same motor siamesed came out, the interval was raised to 6000 miles and was applied to all the 'Master' series 400 and 500 motors. Belts stayed at 8000 unfortunately so now fall outside of the normal pattern of oil changes. I would suspect, if your type of mileage is open road rather than cross town stop-start you could, like I do, easily get 12,000 miles from a genuine OEM belt.

The intervals should be 6000 and 12000 etc for oil services. Somewhere on here is a post from John Thompson of Thompsons Piaggio StAlbans where he tells us of a Piaggio update sent to all dealers who sold the Master engined bikes stating that from that point on and retrospectively to older 500's the service increments were being extended to 6000 miles.
Your service booklet and owners handbook chart should reflect this as yours will have been printed long past the change date.
10k could be for the belt only. This used to be 8000 but it's possible they have extended this slightly too. This wasn't originally changed but may have been amended solely for newer models.

Just for the record, yes indeed the owner's handbook for my 350 version says 10,000 km and 20,000 km, (6,200 / 12,400 miles)

PS: note however there's a mention that oil changes may need to be more frequent "if a lot of high speed riding"

Hi,

@Martin: thanks for the offer! Still waiting for the bike school to get back to me regarding some questions I had (they need to talk to the DVSA).

@Mike: What was/is the reason for the change? Your avatar says you have a 350.

Best regards,
ScootDude.

Change of bike? 'Cause the first blue one I had was dropped on a greasy wet road and written off cos of a bent frame.

Finally found my service book. Will have a look to see what the intervals should be.
