Hi all What have I done on my X9 Evo? Well I have blown the dust off. I have used the garage to build a timber garden shed so the bike was covered with dust. I have now erected it (the shed) in the garden and cleared out the garage including quite a bit of junk for the scrap man. I now have room to fit the new drive belt but having no lifting table I think that sitting on the floor to do it may be a bit hard on my back & legs, as well as being a bit hot. A local garage has said about £30 to do the job so I may get them to do it. Unfortunately while growing up is optional growing old is not . 77 in a few weeks time, still it's better than the alternative. Regards Allen Morgan

Passed your gaff twice this weekend and you still didn't wave Allen. Friday was busy traffic, this morning fairly quiet.

Hi Dave I did look out from time to time so sorry to miss you. Trouble is that in a morning till mid afternoon the sun is in my eyes, as well as 'the ourses in-between' (to quote the old song) when looking towards the main road. If you had said a time you could have called in and I'd be home to meet you. Regards Allen Morgan

At 11:50 UPS arrived with the parts from Easyparts and 10 mins later, DPD arrived with the pipe from Italy so out to dismantle the exhaust. Both nuts unscrewed easily and left the studs intact It has now taken me 45 mins to get the collar to release itself from the Manifold and the studs, rusted solid. Finally prizzed it off, the studs look in an OK condition and I will run a die over them to clean them up. This is the downpipe though which explains the loud popping: Now to put it back together with the new (used) pipe and get it MOT'd. Bob

I went out on my 500 EVO today, first time for a while as it has had a new reg/ rec and I have been in hospital. X9 ran well, but some where or other the left hand mirror glass disappeared. It appears that that the adjustment knob has stem has broken. Any advice welcome please. Is the glass available as a separate item ?. Availability new or used ?. Has anyone got one to dispose of ?. Please assist. Thank you.

had the clutch cover off today to try and make a holding tool for the variator, made one but it kept slipping,
gonna have an other go if not buy one, the belt looked good so i cleaned everything around the area,
im gonna change the belt when i get a holding tool and some rollers [all looks very easy ] the question im left with is...,,
What is the standard weight rollers? the manual says 20.5 - 20.7mm but no weight, i have also been reading about drpulley slidders, do i need a similar weight?
i do the slow town riding but also motorways 50/50 [dont want to lose much at either end
its a 05 x9 250 evo
kind regards John
ps @Bob, do i need photobucket to upload photos?

Hi John, Other photo hosting sites are available but you do need one. Roller weights here: http://www.beedspeed.com/html-pages/variator-roller-weights-chart.htmX9 Evolution 250 04-06 21x17 11.2g 6 rollers The sliders do improve and smooth out performance, the general rule is 10% lighter so 10g. Be sure to replace the shoes as well but standard ones seem as good as Dr Pulleys. Bob
