Crikey, my stand works perfect, only use it when the engine is running and yet its no-where near as fast as this one is, is it speeded up in this clip?

Looks about the right speed for one in good condition.

Thanks for the vid, I'd never actually seen one in action. So there's no way to manually put it on the centre stand then?

Only if you put an Evo stand on, or weld on a lever. Despite the many reports of stand electrics failure, once they're sorted they work very well indeed.

Actually I used to put mine on the stand 'cos it was forever messing about, untill I took it to jt's and was shown where everything was and how to fix it. They didn't believe I could do it , saying it took 3 of them to get a 500 SL on it's stand manually! But it can be done.( not by girls though! haha ) And you're right, jimc, once sorted they work very well, I miss not having it on my EVO. Chris.

Perhaps mines slower cos I keep my fat ass on it when I press the button. When I got knocked off it the other week the PC who attended the call was amazed when he tried to pick it up and struggled. Then when he kept looking it over to see how to get it on its stand I shouted from the ambulance 'just press the yellow button'. I kid you not he was gobsmacked and spent the next five minutes checking it out. Well impressed was plod! Parki it outside Hein Gerike and the bikers seem to like it too, always one or two ask for a repeat performance.

A good way to knacker it sooner than later. Onlookers always love it.

It's really not worth the effort. The electric stand was offered as an extra on the 250sl but cost so much to fit it was withdrawn.

It's a great idea, but I don't think I miss it on my X8 as it's really, really easy to get on the stand anyway, Piaggio have thoughtfully provided such a long lever that I can get the heavy beast up on the stand without any hassle at all. Most of the time I don't even hold the handlebars once the stand is down touching the ground, a slight press on the lever with a toe and up it goes. Which is really good because the side-stand is rubbish!
I remember the centre stand on my Cb350F was a flipping nightmare to use as there was little to no leverage at all. I never once managed to get it on the centre stand. Thankfully it had a decent side stand!

I removed the electric motor and added a lever to my SL stand, got a patten off my Evo, it works so well also fitted an Evo side stand, this allows it to lean a little more.

I keep pushing the button on my X9-500 Evo and it never does that, it just sits there.... ;-)

Same with mine, it spent more time breaking down that working. The dealer swapped if for the manual EVO one, and gave me the motor as a souvineer.... I really don't miss it.
