Update for anyone interested - if you just want pistons, you'll be stuffed. Months of seatching drew a blank, and the only way forward was a complete replacement. Fortunately, someone breaking an X9 had one on eBay, which I got for £25 and I'm back up to full efficiency.
It does annoy me that Piaggio leave us stranded.

Piaggio have only ever supplied the complete caliper. Nothing new here then.

Not according to my Piaggo dealership - whom I think only source from PiaggioSpares, the firm down south (Bristol?) and were unenthusiastic, suggesting I should just get a new one and be frateful I gould get one!
