I have need to show a picture of my drive belt for advice, but I don't know how to insert the image into a post. Can anybody help here please? It's probably dead simple but all I get is this.

Thanks in advance

The image must first be uploaded to any photo hosting site (such as our gallery). It will then have an address such as ...

www . photosite.com . my album . my picture . jpg

Copy that address and paste it into a new post. If you paste into the "quick reply" space at the bottom of the page, you will need to preview it to go the the next step.

On the preview page, above the line of smiley faces are some icons. The second one from the left looks like a picture in a frame. Click it and this will appear.

Paste your picture's address in the centre thus ...

[ img ]www . photosite.com . my album . my picture . jpg[ /img ]

Preview again to see your picture in the post. If you're happy, click "post".

I've added extra spaces to make this demo work. Don't add any for real.

Why didn't I think of that?

I only wanted to add photos to my ad for my bike... i didn't realise it was so hard. any ideas on how i can get my photos into my ad? thanks

You need a password for the gallery. PM JImC for that. Then follow the instructions above.
Alternatively upload your piccies to somewhere like Flickr or if you have already put an ad on Ebay link to the ones on there.

Don't PM me, send an email to gallery@wotmeworry.org.uk stating your X9 forum username.  You'll get an email back with the login info for the gallery.

I note you're with Orange - who seem to have done away with conventional (FTP) webspace access.   Otherwise I'd advise you to use your ISP provided webspace for 'personal' stuff.
