Well it's reached that time again. One has to get the old girl (07 Plate 125 Evo) serviced. Missed the last service, so it's kinda mounted up... I'd appreciate any feedback on what people think the following might well cost: - 16,000 mile service (labour charge)
- oil, filter and plugs
- front and rear brake pads
- steering head bearings
- engine mounts
- new stainless exhaust
- MOT
... plus any additional labour for the above. I've an idea what the local dealer is gonna charge, but as mentioned above I'd also like to see how this tallies up with what people would expect to pay. Cheers, Paul.

Thats an expensive list, can you not do any of it yourself? Not using garages myself I can only guess at labour charges but there is several hours work there and is labour came in under £200 I would be surprised. Guessing again on what a garage may charge you for parts etc:
Oil £10 Filter £15 Plug £10 Pads £50 Bearings £40 Engine Mounts (are you sure after 3 years and 16K these really need doing?) £70 Exhaust £250 (Depending on type fitted) Mot £25

Exactly. DIY and cost would look more like... Oil £22 but good for 3 changes so £7 Filter £5 off Ebay, buy 3 or 4 and save postage Plug £7.50 for an Iridium and never have to buy another Pads £30 for all three sets and only fit what is needed as it wears out. Steering head lower bearing £15 Engine mount, exhaust and MOT will all have to be bought new at about the prices above Labour...£0 Fun factor priceless Satisfaction high

Well dyrons sell the brake pad at 15.00 each and the new stainless exhaust from them is about 150.00....
When i tested your X9 i found the notch in your steering when at mine...... its not that bad but i would recommended doing what i did and have dyrons take the bearings apart move it round and regress up so will last another few hundred miles worked for me, saves having to add that to this big bill.
The exhaust inst that bad ....i say try a new exhaust collar gasket.... looks rusted.
If you come around ill do the exhaust for you....stand down and repaint for you. saves you some money....... ill do it free!

Cheers Guys, Think that kinda tallies up with what I'm gonna end up having to pay. Like Bob says, I think the killer is gonna end up being the labour charges. The exhaust is apparently perished so really does need replacing. It would have needed a new one at some point anyhow, so it might as well be now. Think with VAT I'm looking at the best part of £600. Think the next purchase is a bike lift and a few service manuals. That and and copy of Daves phone number

Well... After a 2 and a half week wait for a replacement exhaust I've finally got my bike back... Currently seeing if it goes any faster after loosing a hefty amount of notes out of my wallet... For those interested the bill totted up as: Service Items- oil - £5.95
- oil filter - £6.80
- waste (or masto ?) oil - £1.50
- spark plug - £5.91
- rear pads - £14.45
- belt - £21.27
- engine mount - 38.29
- sundries - £1.50
- leovince 4road exhaust - £187.23
- labour - £250.00
Subtotal - £532.90 VAT - £93.25 MOT - £29.65 TOTAL - £655.80 Apparently the standard Piaggio exhaust was perished, which I kinda expected. This was replaced with a Leovince 4road. Nice bit of kit, but it certainty aint quiet. I now sound like a bloody chav!! I'd argue the point it probably makes more noise than the knackered Piaggio exhaust did. Not overly keen on the fact I'm hitting well over 8,000 rpm in speeds as little as 30/40mph too. That and it appears to pop when slowing down. Gonna go nick a Vauxhall Novca badge and stick it on the back of the bike. Anybody know where u stand with bike repairs if you feel something hasn't been resolved ? I had a weird juddering feeling when riding along. Same kinda feeling you'd get if you had a dodgy (blistered) tyre. Quite sure it's still there. Thought the engine mount replacement might well have fixed the problems, but no luck. Rather miffed I've shelled out nearly 700 quid and still got the same prob I wanted gone in the first place. Appreciate any comments. Ta, Paul.

Sounds like the usual Dyrons alleged workmanship Did the same thing to Solo's 125 didn't they? Surely a main dealer should fit OEM parts and that includes the exhaust, unless the customer tells them to do it on the cheap. Decent price on the belt though...can't be OEM at that price either can it? Must admit the first part of your list and the prices don't seem too bad, it's the last three items that are the killer or more specifically Labour and VAT.

No surprises on the fact that's been left out of the breakdown I got. Think I got quoted about £90 quid to do the oil, pads and filter. That certainly can't take longer than an hour, if that. Add that to big jobs like the exhaust, steering head and engine mounts, I guess it wouldn't have been too far off £250, if not more... Paul.

Paul,
Sounds like 50-60 quid per hour. My place charges about $80US per hour. Pretty standard rates. It's fun to do it yourself, but time is working against you...
I hope you take it back and have them out the weirdness out of the machine.
Bests Joey
