what engine is in the 2001 x9 125, i think mine is nackard and am wondering if i can get a donor engine from another bike that would fit?

I can't say for certain, but I don't think the X9 125 shares the same engine with any other model. The Piaggio B125 is a watercooled 125 Piaggio engine but the wheel sizes  are totally different so the gear ratios will be different too. X9, 125 engines come up on ebay every now and then.

The engine is a standard liquid cooled Leader 125 which is in loads of bikes. There will be transmission issues but you have the pulleys etc from your bike so I don't think that would be a problem. The Hayes Piaggio manual deals with several Leader engined bikes so will have clues about any differences between the X9 and Vespa GT for example.

There's no shortage of 125 X9 engines on Ebay usually.
What exactly is wrong with yours, unless Solo's had a go at it at sometime, it shouldn't be that bad!
