I don't think I've seen an X9 trike here before, apologies if it's already been covered. I know sidecars have. Title: X9 Trike Post by: johnH on September 13, 2004, 17:30:06 In the current NABD magazine, 'Open House,' there are a couple of photos of a T-Max with the rear wheels exactly the same as the X9 in your link. The T-Max Trike is shown outside an NABD marquee at one of their shows.
The differential will make cornering easier than a bike and 'chair' but I'd prefer to have a chair so that I could carry any kit with me instead of using a topbox. I also don't like the style of the 'trike' with those two rear wheels. On a Hayabusa or H-D, or big Honda, a 'trike' looks a bit menacing. Having been overtaken by a Pan European Trike on the M6 last year, while driving my car, I was really jealous of the freedom that the 3 wheels gave the rider. He wasn't wearing a helmet and had the usual leathers and long grey beard of a Hell's Angel, as he overtook me at about 95mph!!!! A fantastic sight. I gave him a wave and his big grin and 'thumbs up' in reply, showed me a bloke who was happy with himself and his world. Thanks for the link Alan. Title: X9 Trike Post by: chiefkeefe on September 13, 2004, 18:44:11 Ta for the link, Alan. It shows it can be done.
Maybe the rear wheels are a bit on the small size but, personally, I think an X9 trike would be great fun and could be made to look the part, too, with some nice alloys and a 'boot' along the lines of the Grinall R1200C Trike. Although unlikely to be as practical as a combo, I think that for ease of use the trike wins hands down, having symmetry in its favour and not requiring boat-steering techniques to get it round the bends. How about a club ride out to the factory? :-/ Title: X9 Trike Post by: Alan on September 13, 2004, 18:48:05 Quote The differential will make cornering easier than a bike and 'chair' but I'd prefer to have a chair so that I could carry any kit with me instead of using a topbox. Shouldn't your chair be on the other side? I expect you've explained before but i'm just curious ^_^Title: X9 Trike Post by: Treb on September 13, 2004, 19:00:51 X9 trike looks a similar to the Trippi that I've seen down here. Trippi (http://www.nippi.co.uk/)
Title: X9 Trike Post by: chiefkeefe on September 13, 2004, 19:07:43 Nice.
Although aimed at disabled riders, I think that the Trippi's quite a good looking machine which might command its own little niche market if made more widely accessible to other riders. It doesn't look as though it's been thrown together with odd bits'n'pieces as some specials do. Title: X9 Trike Post by: johnH on September 13, 2004, 19:52:25 And a reverse gear. Heavens, here we are chatting about trikes on our X9 site. A sign of a second childhood, methinks.
