Title: Seat release key fob wanted Post by: julian on September 07, 2009, 17:49:52 My key fob has broken and I have attempted an untidy repair with araldite. I can't find it on the parts diagrams, any idea how much replacements are?
Title: Re: Seat release key fob wanted Post by: Big Ears on September 07, 2009, 17:54:49 If you mean the little round black jobbie, I have one I don't need. It's sitting right in front of me as I type.
It came with my black 500, which was pinched 3 years ago. I don't know if they're bike specific though?????? Title: Re: Seat release key fob wanted Post by: jimc on September 07, 2009, 18:14:14 The bike will have to have the seat receiver re-set and re-programmed. Page 82 of the workshop manual onwards. The reset instructions are a bit muddled, that's for sure!
Title: Re: Seat release key fob wanted Post by: Dave Milnes on September 07, 2009, 18:34:02 They are easy to reset. I got the one that came with the scrapper to work with mine following the instructions CT gave me, so I have 2, one on my normal keys and one put away with the spares/master key.
There is a little jumper wire on the underside of the decoder that resets the programming for the fobs so you can start factory fresh. I think you can have 3 fobs per decoder/bike. Key On, within 3 secs turn it off... Within 10secs turn key back on...and press the remote button and then turn key off... If it worked the seat will have popped open! Rather than faff around with reprogramming I have simply put the gubbins from the old fob into the new fob. Title: Re: Seat release key fob wanted Post by: Big Ears on September 10, 2009, 17:51:20 As long as you're a happy bunny. :D
Title: Re: Seat release key fob wanted Post by: julian on September 10, 2009, 21:03:50 Very much so! :D
Many thanks! I have not had a reply to my offer of payment. I have just discovered that Tania, who I met through Londonbikers.com, was seriously injured in an accident last month when a car crossed her path. She is expected to still be in Stoke Mandeville into 2010. I have sent the money I had in mind here (http://www.justgiving.com/Aspire-and-MSL/) instead. Title: Re: Seat release key fob wanted Post by: Big Ears on September 10, 2009, 21:22:40 Good man. Better there than my pocket. I wish her well.
Title: Re: Seat release key fob wanted Post by: jimc on September 10, 2009, 21:49:11 Just donated myself - thanks for the heads-up Julian. What a bummer - a lovely girl, ridden with her quite a few times.
