Iam a new 250 sl owner but have just come across my first problem!On trying to ajust the rear suspension setting the first twist of the spanner split the whole of the ajustment ring.I dont think it has been touched since it came out of the factory.So the question is where can I get a cheap single unit from?Any one got a spare. cheers. An option is to fit a pair of aftermarket Oxon ones which are around £60 and available from http://www.toolparts.co.uk/acatalog/Oxon_Twin_Motorcycle_Shock_Absorbers.html but you need the length and end fitting info. Slightly longer is fine as long as you don't go too mad! 30mm or so is OK. 10mm shorter max. They won't necessarily be a perfect fit but with a few spacers you should be OK. I used a pair on the 500 for about 2 years before one started leaking, so they aren't brilliant in build quality but they rode fine. Expect to pay about GBP140 even if fitting yourself - but well worth it, as they'll last another five or six years. Keep the adjuster oiled!

However they can sometimes source parts not currently available here.
Although I have done it myself - it's not recommended to replace just one shock. Both is best. |
