Title: Piaggio Recall Post by: johnp on July 02, 2009, 03:46:50 Piaggio is recalling 2006-2008 BV500 and 2005-2007 X9 500 scooters due to a problem with the fuel pump assembly.
The hose connecting the fuel filter to the fuel pump may come loose, causing a drop or loss of fuel pressure to the engine. These parts are located inside the fuel tank so no signs of a fuel leak will be visible from the outside. http://www.motorcycle.com/news/june-2009-recall-notices-88478.html (http://www.motorcycle.com/news/june-2009-recall-notices-88478.html) Title: Re: Piaggio Recall Post by: BrianG on July 02, 2009, 05:52:36 I wonder if that has any impact on the Nexus, it has the same engine after all.
BrianG Title: Re: Piaggio Recall Post by: Dave Milnes on July 02, 2009, 08:23:15 This stems from the US models which have been manufactured minus the hose clamps between pump and filter.
UK models shouldn't be affected as rumour (conspiracy theory) has it that on assembly the same number of clips were specified on the production line for those models with emission systems, and so they ran out of clips when it came to the pump. Sound just about daft enough for Piaggio. The fuel sold in the US seems to make the hose go a bit soft too and so it doesn't retain it's push fit seal on the stubs. The Nexus was never sold in the US so shouldn't be included. Similar design though. |
