Title: Crash (the result)
Post by: hobart on July 01, 2009, 18:11:47
Don't know if anyone remembers the crash I had last year (some idiot decided that my lane looked more interesting than his just as I was passing him). Well, I finally got the personal injury compensation through for it. My injuries amounted to a massive bruise down one side of my body, a sore wrist and a fair amount of pain when walking for a few weeks. Apart from the wrist, which still gives me the occasional bit of discomfort, everything thankfully cleared up pretty quickly. Anyway - the compensation for this? £3.5K!

Given that I'd got no really serious injuries from it, I wasn't even going to bother pursuing it because I thought I'd get peanuts if anything, but the insurance company and the solicitors kept telling me that it was worth it, and it certainly was.

I would still rather not have had the crash, but it's still a fair amount of money that I wasn't expecting to get.

Excellent result. I didn't get anywhere near that and I ended up with broken ribs + the usual bruises etc..

Good result.  Apart from the money, it will hopefully concentrate one driver's mind the next time he changes lanes.

Excellent, should increase the cagers premiums nicely.

I got £4k for my shoulder but it is going to give problems forever.

Nice one! Though it's a good job your injuries weren't more serious given the amount of time you had to wait for payment.

Good result, I am still involved with a claim for something very similar that happenned in Hyson Green, Nottingham in February, I would have been happy enough with getting the bike fixed, although my leg was hurt, but when the "lady driver" rolled her window down to ask me if I could move my bike because she was in a hurry, I decided she was going to pay! I called the police, and took a load of pics with my phone. The best thing to have on you if you are in an accident, and relatively unhurt enough to use it. £3.5 k would be nice. I'll keep you all posted.
Chris. :x9:
