Title: X9 125
Post by: coz on June 13, 2009, 05:28:45
Unfortunately I had to sell my lovely Honda Pantheon a couple of months ago due to needing a new boiler. The phrase 'put another jumper on' just didn't work for Buff anymore and as he needed his X9 250 to commute mine had to go.

Now, after several months of overtime at work we can afford a repalcement. Off to Aylesbury this afternoon (after more overtime) to look at an 05 X9 125 Smoke Grey (same colour as Buff's) with matching Piaggio top box.

needing a new boiler.

A steam powered X9. An "X9 Vapo"! I like the idea.

It was £1200. Quite a good price for an 05. It did need a bit of cosmetic work and a new exhaust. Decided against it as it looked a bit scruffy, hence the price. Buff thought I was mad not to want it, but as it will be ridden purely for pleasure and not for necessity, I want something that looks good, even if I have to go for something older.

I put my Aprilia* Atlantic with just under 4000 miles on a site I pay membership for. Partly because I only covered 140 miles, since the last MOT(and probably little more before, due in the main to ongoing health issues) and also because I went up to Norfolk to collect a geared Aprilia-which has a few things come to light, mainly starter Bendix on Rotax lump.  However each time I ride the darn thing(Atlantic),especially with the new tyres, pads 14 amp gel battery, and service it goes like a dream. I saw a black 2002 X9 500 on EBay, figuring I might get to do more miles on a bigger engined one.So re advertised the Aprilia (I sold my last but one geared bike on Preloved). In the interim The X9 went, for a reasonable amount. It needed a service and mirror. I still have the Atlantic up for an ask of £1250, because it is such low mileage for a 2003. Despite modifying a Burgher 650 screen, with cutouts to clear fluid reservoirs and a rear panel in silver , as opposed to the rest in Honey grey/black, following a minor misshap (involving screen too, the bike is virtually concours. Mind you Essex is a bit of a stretch for you. Just thought it might be worth a mention?(http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3617/3638417136_5c68299385_m.jpg)

Finally I have found a replacement for my Pantheon. Bid after a couple of X9s & X8s on Ebay, but no joy. A lot of the scooters in Bike Trader tended to be in London, which was a bit too far to travel. Finally found another Pantheon in Tamworth, silver and 56 reg like mine, but with a top box.
Buff picked it up yesterday. I feel a bit rusty as is has been a couple of months since I have been on a scooter, so will wait until the weekend to go out when Buff can come with me. That's if it stops raining! :-/
