HI

3rd Ride out on my X9 and i am a bit uncomfortable with the front end, going over small bumps or big bumps it feels like its crashing over them like i am riding with 2 sticks rather than forks, they don't bounce or bottom out just clash over them best way to describe it.

There is no leaking and there is no bottoming out.

Any ideas and suggestions.

Many thanks
Solo

Sliders seized?

Too much fork oil put in so hydro-locked won't compress? (I did this once)

These ones ( got a few in my garage ) either off the old 500SLor old 250SL has not had the fork oil touched, so possible last owner maybe, thanks to bobs help, I am going to remove the fork oil and replace with fresh 90cc of 20W oil and refit.

hoping this will give a good ride.

The final straw was going down a rough road my phone ( using as Sat-nav ) and holder bounced off the X9 into the road, lucky it was fitted with a tough work case to with stand impact of hiting the road at 50mph

No don't need that! Doesn't sound good at all!

Once I had a Moto Guzzi Spada, tried draining the fork oil once, not much came out, but also because I could not get top caps off, which would have let the air in to get the oil to drain, so I assumed they were both empty and used an oiling can to inject fork oil back up into the drain holes. Next time I went out on it, it was like the forks were solid rods.  ::

Moral: there are no short-cuts ... top caps had to come off (aka do it properly)
