Guys,

I bought an non-running 2004 X9 500 back in June that was sitting for a year or so.    I replaced the fuel and installed a new OEM fuel pump.  All electrical components appear to work properly.  I tried priming the fuel pump by turning the key on and off 5-6 times then starting.  Nothing.  The fuel pump is kicking on when I turn the key...I can hear it.  The starter cranks but does not turn over the engine.  I know that I don't have a spark problem because I was able to get the engine to kick over with starting fluid sprayed into the intake.  The immobilizer light goes off when the key is turned, so I don't think that's the issue.  I checked all the fuses...no issues.  Could the fuel not be making it to the fuel injector?  Could it be a bad or dirty injector?

Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Apart from checking the obvious like the injector wiring connection, have you checked the 4 fuses to the left of the battery compartment as one of these does the ECU and injector?
Also one of the two white relays in the same area also does the fuel pump and Ignition coil. Even though it almost fired using starter fluid, a continuous load through a dodgy relay or dirty fuse connection may fail.
I have had a spare engine sitting about for years and when I fitted it, it fired up as if only used yesterday so I doubt a year unused would be a problem to the injector unless it was failed before and why the previous owner sold it. Worth checking the plug lead and cap as it might be a weak spark you have.

Thanks for the advice Dave.  It ended up being the injector.  Looking forward to finally getting to ride it.
