Sad indeed, did it die of old age or was it taken from you some other way.

Crankshaft seized
No warning just wouldn't start.

Any way I'll move on. I have seen a 125 engine for sale

Could I straight swap?

Does it have to be an EVO engine.

Maybe MAYBE swop the head over if too under powered. Maybe!

What do you think guys ?

Dave? Your advice would be appreciated

The pre Evo unit is the same but X9 units are 4 valve LEADER units not 2 valve ones like in the 'mopeds'. Carb is different on the Evo and a few 'bolt on' bits may be slightly changed but you can swap these over, the basic crankcase and internals are the same.
It's a dilemma as to whether to spend time and money on a new motor for this X9 or break it for a few useful spares and get a newer one which takes no time or effort. Or fix this one and you know all about it, you can clean and restore as you go, buy another and get a previous owners botch jobs to fix, so still needing time and effort to get it to your liking...your call!

Thanks, Dave.

The replacement engine fell through.
Maybe for the better.

I'm going to buy another 200 if I can get one.
I'll keep the old one and make a good one from the 2
Plastics are in great condition.

Ok, thanks for your advice. Back soon!

If it's a 125 you could stick the motor in your X9 and bin the rest.

Yes.  Maybe a bit too much for my mechanical knowledge.

Could I take the key barrel and immobilizer off the X9 and fit it to the Derbi?

Would that work ok to get the Derbi started in the meantime?

A quick look in the Derbi workshop manual shows the engine is only a 2 valve not a 4 valve so not really up to lugging an X9 around. A lot of similarities in the immobilizer troubleshooting and diagrams that would lead you to believe they are very similar. Not sure about the key barrel fitting as the X9 uses a rather odd barrel mechanism.
The Derbi manual is available from the help section on here so see for yourself.
