10 125 ?

Hello guys.

As you know i am already blessed with 2x X9 250SL and a First edition X9 125, i was thinking about replacing the X9125 with an X10 125 as i like to stick to the Piaggio X range scooters.

To my surprise i see no X10 125 for sale, was they not sold in the UK ? I signed up with a new delivery company via bike, and i am doing Amazon Deliveries Via my car.

but a Nice X10 125 would been nice, any one got any input on where you can buy them ?

Never seen one or heard of anyone having one and as you say never seen a used 125 for sale.

X10 is a fine Bike ( i ride the 350) but comercialy it wasn't the hit for Piaggio. Therefor it was the last 2-wheeler they made. Also here on the Continent (i live in Germany) you find very much more the X8.

did some looking about on the X10 125 and they did produce it, it was a simplified version of the 350 most of the extras were add ons or not added.

It looked nice, shame they never hit UK.

in france and spain, there is an article starting with opening line referring to the new replacement to the X9 range, with X9 still used in paris that's where the X10 was released.

125 Leader engine with injection, people complaining of the 170 kg of the X01 125 been heavy for a 125, with 12 Nm at 7250 rpm acceleration making for a high revving noise take off.

Test showed it can hit max 80mph not bad since the X9125 could only over do just almost 70, front end is heavy at low speed was a complaint followed by basic rear shocks non adjustable unlike the 500 you can adjust them electronically.

alot of the paris articles i dug up shows more complaints than goods, so i guess it wasn't the hit piaggio wanted as the successor to the X9.

I say they should bring out a New Retro X9 unchanged with small updates to accommodate some small failings in the X9 design, ie, Crap position of the battery and the common head bearings failing early due to crap fork design.

Good idea, an updated X9 with fuel injection across the range, improved suspension and better protected wiring. It would sell very well. One with the GP800 twin motor in it would be quick too!!

They first build the X9 then they build the X8 (125, 250, 400) and then, beginning in 2012 they build the X10 (125, 350, 500) till 2016.
Between the X9 and the X8 there was also an X7. It was only a 125 and in Germany they never sold much of them.
As i know, there is no next 2-Wheeler in the line, only 3-Wheeler: mp3.

They also did the Xevo which was a real left over parts bin jobbie. Didn't last long at all.
Piaggio have dropped the ball considering their heritage on 2 wheels and Honda and Yamaha even Kawasaki are running with it.
3 wheelers never were much cop and haven't caught on in the UK with the car driver target market stubbornly refusing to get wet.

The XEvo was a (little bit) modified X8.

They started there flag ship maxi with the X9, they should show homage to there flaship after all these years.

Honda flagship is the goldwing and they always redo the goldwing over and over with improvements, the piaggio X9 should be piaggios goldwing, something to improve and make better.

As dave says , fuel injection across the range and better suspension even like X10 electric adjustable.

As for engines, its traditions to release them in 125 250 500 or more recent popularity 125 350 500.

The New X9 range should brake that 125  / 500 / gp800 engine

But its a shame piaggio will never read this or think about there flag ship maxi-scooter.

Before the X9 in Germany there was the Hexagon 125, 150 (this was the first), 180 and 250. The last with a Hondamotor.
It was build from 1994(?) to 2002 and followed by the X9.

We had the hexagon too but in those days you hardly ever saw a scooter on the road, the odd old Lambretta or Vespa in summer, then after 2000 when the X9 250 with the same Honda motor came out they started to appear along with the first Burgman 125's then about 2002 when the 250SL and 125 X9's arrived there was a boom in ownership of a surprising sudden amount of maxis available.

Don't forget also acquired a reputation for stopping working, like the electric mainstand elsewhere, so is it better really? Yes if reliable. I found with the 'normal' 5-way preload rear shocks on the 350 X10 the collars seize up if not 'exercised' regularly with lots of oil and grease. I just managed to rescue mine from this fate, at just 1 year old from brand new.

When we were in Rome in 2007, there were (mainly 500) scarabeos, fully loaded, all over the place. Great bike, but they never made it over here either.
