Sorry you lost the contract, we were away at the bash but you could have looked in the online manual

i had a copy on my laptop and look in the X9 service manual for the 250SL and cant find in the rear wheel section anything about wheel nut size unless i have completely missed it, i rechecked and still having problems, i found a nut in my collection that fits, its not the right one but it works for now

The 250SL is different to the rest of the X9's that have a set of 10mm bolts into the hub so not something anyone would have known or could have gone out and measured for you.
It isn't shown on any of the parts diagrams, the early drawings were rubbish the later ones not much better.
Fowlers have a better drawing though...It states 1998-2005 which should be SL but it also says Evo but also lists other bikes from earlier period so maybe worth a try?

Easiest way is to buy a cheap thread pitch gauge & vernier caliper ...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gauge-Pitch-Measure-Tool-Dual-Head-Screw-Gage-Thread-20-Blades-60-metric/173290728159?hash=item2858eeaadf:g:aZMAAOSwdFla4w3e

&

.... those will measure every nut & bolt you are likely to meet on a scooter
