Hello.

Well when i first got my 250SL She was a nice speedy bike with smooth power and with over takes as easy as a sports bike with 90mph readings she always made me smile, but after a few years i noticed i only ever got 85Mph and slowly dropping, i just fitted a new Dayco Drive Belt and new rollers and new oil and after a motorway blast the new top speed has dropped to 77MPH red line almost.

Went back home changed rollers, 18Gr then 22GR then 28Gr, each time made no difference to top speed just the time it got there.

Am i missing something here am i doing something wrong ? is something dying with age that's slowing my X9 down ?

Could be a lot of small things each adding up to a bigger overall loss.
Wear and tear on pulleys, the engine itself not quite in tune and down a few horses. You could also be heavier than you were, it all makes a difference. Changing all the bits that could be worn for brand new items would cost a fortune so the best you can do is make sure what is there is working as well as it can do and live with it, or buy a new bike.

Try the same run without the top box, should add at least 5mph.

Taken for a ride today and and been deaf i cant hear it, a mate pointed out that when accelerating the clutch is making a sound like rattle mettle sound like spring is week or like its slipping on acceleration, could need a new one.

non on ebay so may need buy aftermarket.

Rattle on acceleration is more likely to be to do with the variator rollers/sliders than the clutch, try taking the cover off & giving it a good clean
