can I fit a sidestand to the x7 anybody know or is the frame different to the x8/evo

Never realised it didn't have one.
The dimensional drawing in the workshop manual clearly shows a side stand fitted, and yet the parts diagrams do not show one on any X7 model. Maybe it was designed for one then for some reason abandoned.
There does seem to be a bracket on the LH lower frame tube that looks like it should take a stand pivot, but if the belly pan doesn't have the appropriate cut out it will be difficult to fit one.
Also the electrics will not utilise a cut out switch so actually having a side stand on a bike that can drive itself off the stand can be dangerous.
