Hello

The X8 top box has been taken off my X8 has i found by last owner its been bolted to the Givi rack plate, the box looked to big for the plate hence been bolted to it, but my Givi E52 fits on it perfectly.

So i assumed the X8 uses a larger fitting plate ?

If so i cant find it online, could some one help me out ? I think the X8 box is knackered anyways i tryed clipping the front locking part in to my other monokey plate and it wont click in place just comes off the rack and dosnt lock in place so assume the lock has gone, but box it self locks fine. i mite put X8 box up for sale if anyone wants it for ££££ box is in good looking condition just it wont lock to a rack.

Thanks SOLO

There are 2 types of Givi plates and boxes. The Monokey and the Monolock. I don't know what the difference is but I know they are incompatible.
The box quick release plates are probably sized to suit the box size and weight more than the bike model or rack type. After all they are supposed to be 'universal' although the actual Givi racks are individual to the bike of course.
What you need is the correct type of plate for your own E52 and fit that to the X8 rack. Surely there must be something on Ebay?

The X8 box uses the Monokey system so does the Givi E52, the X8 wont go on the Givi E52 plate as the plate is too small.

So the X8s own monokey plate must be bigger, i have compered the Givi E52 with my X8 box and the X8 bottom is defentaly bigger than the Givi e52 bottom.

I looked online, but cant find a site that sells the X8 plates separate, not even AJsuttonn online.

I don't follow what it is you are trying to achieve.
Fitting your E52 plate to the X8 rack so you can use your E52 box or fitting the X8 box to the bike properly using a quick release plate rather than bolted straight to the rack?

If my Tmax was anything to go by, although the box was a Givi badged as a Yamaha, it did not use the same release plates as a 'proper' Givi box nor was the quality quite as high. They are slightly different probably done deliberately so anyone with a Yamaha box who wanted a larger or smaller Givi couldn't use the same plate they already had.

Basically I want to fit the Piaggio X8 box to my bike, but need a propa Piaggio X8 monokey plate for the box to fit it, as the one that came with the bike is the wrong one.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-GENUINE-PIAGGIO-X7-RACK-FOR-TOP-BOX-TOP-CASE-WITH-FITTING-KIT-INSTRUCTIONS-/151229444484?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item2335fa3184

This is for an X7 but it is a rack and a PLATE for a genuine Piaggio top box so may be the same as your box needs.
Zoom in on the photo, the plate has one slot at the front and a single locking latch at the rear. I would guess all the Piaggio OEM boxes will be the same mechanism so the plates should be the same too...what do you think?

Will any of these fit or is the OEM box a 'modified' Monokey?

that M3 mono rack is what i need for the X8 box. but its taking a chance on it, as some mono racks are small and some are big and wide.

M3 and M4 etc all different size i believe, don't know what size fitment the X8 monokey rack is, for £35 i could take it chance

I have scrolled down and the one i have here at home looking at that eBay list is the Givi M5 plate i have.

Thanks for the link, but must be the correct one for the X8 box, some monokey plates are small and some are large.

Them large ones look about right but i only use UK ebay
