If the intention was to ridicule new members, its worked, sorry to have stupidly asked. I for one won't be posting again, sorry to have upset the private gentlemen's club. Sorry again for my post, I'll manage as I have previously to get by independently. I now regret buying a Piaggio.

Not ridicule, but obvious really. If you want to know the location or a setting or a quantity, then the workshop manual is the obvious choice and it is downloadable from on here as well. If you had said you had tried that and also had a look around on your bike and drawn a blank so can anyone help, you may have got an answer more to your liking. As I don't have an X10, I have simply looked in the manual and found it's location fairly easily. Item 28 on the first few pages of the electrical section.
Still if you are so easily offended and consider this a gentlemen's club then it's probably not for you. Bye.

Thanks for your response Dave. Yes I had looked at anything I could find to try and locate the flasher unit. I don't unfortunately have an X10, only an X8 and I have been unable to find the X8 250ie workshop manual. I have now gone through checks on several of the common problems of this marque and mine seems to be suffering from most of them ie head bearings worn, charging rate too high, noisey variator etc besides a weathered rear end due to winter use. So much to do and being new to these weird and wonderful machines am wondering what I have taken on, that's why I sort help of those with experience of Piaggios.
Also I was under the impression that it was a Honda engine but its a Piaggio Quasar I believe !

Too many X's about. None of the X8 owners here before kept them long though!! The X8 is the Quasar unit same as the older X9 250 Evo which is not too dissimilar to the 125 unit but upgraded and beefed up. There is an X8 400 manual in the download area which should help as such items will be located in the same place on all models in the range. Another option rather than changing the flasher is to add a ballast resistor somewhere convenient on each side. Easily available on Ebay but get the brass finned variety not the ones with exposed porcelain block as they do get quite hot.

Thanks Michael that's the manual I had found but with a different link. Thanks anyway. Dave, I chose the change of flasher unit over fitting the ballast resistors as easier but maybe another wrong choice.

The ballast resistor is fine but you cannot go back to using normal bulbs without removing it again. The dedicated relay will work with either type or a mixture so probably a better option, but not possible where the indicator function is 'embedded' like it is on the X9.

I am still no further on ref the flasher unit. The manual says the flasher unit is together with another load of relays behind the dash.I have removed the screen and upper fairing but can only find a couple of relays on the RH side looking from the front. They are identical numbered relays so don't seem to be a flasher unit ! I think I might buy a 250 manual to help me.

Does it not make a ticking noise when operating? If so can you not follow the sound and see if that helps?

It did tick prior to fitting the led bulbs but now the lamps light but don't flash. I have most of the panels off now so I'll replace bulbs on one side and listen to where/which relay ticks. I am planning to replace tyres prior to putting it back on the road, is the Michelin City grip my best bet at present ? Thanks again for your patience.

I have solved my problem with the Leds ! SWMBO said stop messing about (actually a bit stronger language than that) and put the original bulbs back, so job done and now concentrating on new pulley weights and general refurb of the back end which has suffered from the ravages of being used in the winter. Are the shockers specific to the X8 250 or do other models fit as they really look sad ? Looking at part numbers 125 and 250 are the same. Seem to be more 125 spares available than the 250 and cheaper.

Try Suttons web site, find the X8 250 shockers and usually on the right hand side there is a list of other models that they fit. See if X9 ones are the same, my guess is they will be, but used ones will probably be in a similar state to yours. New they can be expensive. I snapped up a pair of 500 ones from Suttons at an advertised £65 a pair which are currently listed at nearly twice that price each! Also worth looking at is European Ebay as often some Italian spares outlets sell new old stock OEM parts at very reasonable prices and most willl post to the UK at less cost than UK sellers!
