... but what to get?

Yes, the mileage is correct, we've had a good time together, but it's time to move on.

Hmmm, going to book a test ride on the new X10.

The X10 350 (actually a 330cc) has more power (to the wheel?) than the XEvo's 400cc and a new power delivery system/clutch and ABS or do I wait for the 500, which has the lovely twin spark from the Fuoco and a new rear suspension system?
What MPG are/were people getting on the (heavy) Fuoco?

Decisions, decisions

I'm very much liking the looks and a much sexier bum than the X8/XEvo

It's a very personal choice, but from current reports the 350 would be ideal for solo use and more economical.  Only thing I'd worry about is being the real-world guinea pig for Piaggio's new engine design.

If you have 2-up touring notions then the 500 starts to be worth a look IMHO.

You may struggle to find a demo 350, Slocombes (Neasden) are expecting one in the next 7-10 days, but many other places I tried don't have one yet or won't be offering one at all (Palmers).

That's good news, when will you be taking it out?

I'm sure you've seen this already but Kevin Ash was pretty impressed with the 350 - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/motorbikes/9236704/Piaggio-X10-review.html

Difficult choice as the 350 has more modern fluid clutch, twin spark motor and a few other tweaks, yet the 500 is still old design and technology a'la Fuoco.
If the performance difference isn't that great, I'd be tempted by the 350.
What I would like to know is how the build quality and electrical components have improved since more out sourcing to China. The Italian stuff was bad enough but could be sorted with a little TLC, as the basic design and manufacture was sound, just the assembly poor. Chinese manufacturing though is still a bit third rate which is why it's cheap, or should that be the other way around, it's cheap therefore corners are cut?

I'm just waiting on Slocombes (Neasden) to get their demo Beverly 350ST to try it, they reckon 7-10 days now but they don't expect X10 350 until July.

I thought I'd try the engine out and also see if the Beverly fits me, though I think the X10 may be the better overall package.
