I joined this site a couple of weeks ago as I have set my mind on ,a 250 X9. I like the X9s digidash and the shape, but I  am unable to get one until the end of February. I have now been having second thoughts. Do I get a 250 X9 0r a 400 X8?
My shed to start with is 7x7 so an X8 should fit at an angle, but with the X9 I would have to extend it a bit which I don't mind but could I have have some advice as to what would be the best one to get. It will be mainly used for work about 5 miles but I would also like to take my 9 year old son down to the coast in the summer.
Any thoughts please, Thank you

Basically the difference is asthetic. The 400 X8 is more powerful and more laid back low revving than the 250 carburettor engine in the X9 but it has the ugly boot lid which precludes easy fitting of a top box or back rest for a pillion. You can get them but they are more expensive.
For lots of mainly short trips, the 250 X9 would be more suited as the fuel injected master engines are really better suited to longer runs where they warm up properly. A 250 Evo would also cope with 2 up use quite easily, cost less on fuel and road tax.

Thank you Dave, I will go back to my original idea then, the X9. From what I have read the X9 is also smoother on the road. I think after Christmas I will start to extent the shed a bit to fit it in.

hi mate do what i did i loved my x8 125 'GT' sooo much i cant sell it so i bought an x9 250cc aswell / granted i cant ride it yet coz i havnt passed my test which i have at the end of the week but i loooove them both. the x8 for me to have fun and the x9 for me n the missus to go away its soooo cheap for both a hell of a lot cheaper than a car

Hi ......i owned an x8 400 and it was a super bike.....my biggest mistake was selling it ! having said that i have a x9 250 and its a good bike..... if i was to buy another it would be the 400cc
