You have a bike which is worth a few bob. Modify it like that and it loses most of its value, as you will not interest the market you could sell it to.
Have you got your licence? In which case buy a 250, you'll not regret it.
You haven't got your licence? Then eff-off, you shouldn't break the law and this club will not knowingly help you do it.
I wrote the above comments without reading the OP properly, humble apologies
If you do go ahead though, the cost of all these mods and the drop in resale value will be greater than the cost of doing your test and trading up legitimately, by some quite large amount. And that's assuming you don't get tugged with a modified bike in the meantime, more grief.

Unfortunately the camshaft crank and gear up kit is all needed as part of the tune up as each is ineffective without the other . Assuming you have passed your test go and have a look at the 250cc.

That's out of order Jim IMO. Gary stated in his first post that he has passed his test. Solo, IIRC received advice from various quarters when he replaced his 125cc engine with a 180cc and I believe he's still riding around on L plates. Bob

To release any worthwhile amount of power from a 125, you will need to go cam and valves as well as big bore but then you will need a larger carb with re-jetting and really then the stock exhaust may be hindering and a better one needed. By the time you have done all that spending you may be almost as quick as a 250 off the line, but it will still top out at 70mph unless you do the rear hub gears too which will then drop the acceleration a tad. In all honesty considering you have killed the resale potential of a 125 to the learner market, it will have cost a fortune and be virtually worthless to anyone else (except maybe Solo as it is just what he would like to do) and won't be massively quicker, also considering a hike in insurance premium if you declare it, the money would be better spent on a 250/500 in the first place. That way you get uprated brakes, suspension, gadgets, tyres and an altogether more satisfactory ride. I can appreciate that the tinkering is interesting in itself, but in reality it isn't cost effective.

Hi and welcome to the club. I do wish buyers were advised to buy a good second hand 125cc with the intention of selling it on once they have passed their test. I fell foul of that one, I sold an 11 month old X9 so I could move up to a 250cc once I had passed my test.
I don't know if your 125 was new, if it was, it is certainly worth more as it stands than if you start changing things on it.
If it was second hand you should get what you paid for it unless you have thrown it up the road at some stage.
Please look at the advice given above and consider getting a higher cc bike (new or secondhand). It is not just about the speed (but that extra bit of oomph can get you out of trouble if needs be), but you get a bike that is designed to do the extra things you want from it. If you can find a good 250Evo X9 you will not be disappointed.

Never, ever tune the 125 engine. It will most probably blow up. Malossi stuff can be a right old load of crap too.....

went having a chat with a motorcycle dealer (alexbuckingham) they told me to keep it a 125cc but fit a malossi digitronic cdi they said it wont be much faster but it will let keep more power up hills because it unlimits the revs or somthing.is this true.

Save your money for a bigger engined bike, seriously. Plus it will reduce the value of your present steed.

Welcome Gary.
My 2p worth that's not been mentioned. Have you checked out a few insurance quotes? I'm sure someone will be able to recommend a company that takes a sensible approach to tuned & modified bikes but some of the big boys look nearly as kindly on a stock 250 as they do on a modified '125' - just a thought.

Hi there is no substitute for cc it works like this up to a point 125cc 10-12hp 250cc 20-22hp 500cc 40ish so on . Now add a mallossi kit and it will produce more power but it also means belts rollers bearings crank shafts and so on should be changed (money pit) and then reliability issues WILL occur . Thats why racing scooters hardly ever finish a race ! so in my humble opinion buy a 200 to 250 it will be a far cheaper more reliable solution
