It picks up from the back wheel these days, there is a bracket hanging down from the rear hub. I assume it is magnetic like a pushbike speedo. Good idea, as it makes thr front wheel easy to remove, the previous place for it.

Many thanks Sir - I saw some speedo convertors on the internet that gear down (Or up) the speedo so the Kms are the Mph's - Thought it may work as the speedo is the one thing that bugs me at the moment.
Again thanks for the advice.
Kev.

On the X9 the speedo large numbers were in Km/hour as well, a right pain in the arse. I think someone made up a new background card to read Ml/hour, It could be possible to do this on the Xevo.

hi kev

I've got an x8 which is in kph too... Tomorrow I'm taking the bodywork off to look for a phantom noise over bumps. While I'm there I'm going to remove the dash and then the speedo background if I can, which I'll scan for use another day. Then I'll adapt it on photoshop so it'll print and hopefully still be backlit.
If it works I'll publish details here somewhere which may help you if you decide to do the same?

Annoying yes but it's something I live with as I'm used to it from the X8. The gauge also overreads by about 10% I'm perfectly happy with my guesstimates at the correct speed!

Kev, if you mean the Speedohealer, yes it works on the speedo but will also (probably) affect the mileage counter.

It's legal for a speedo to read faster than actual (most do), but not slower. It's to keep us under the speed limit.

I did it on the X9. I scanned the original at high res then used the smaller MPH markings extended to the outer marking ring and designed a new fascia similar to the original.
The original fascia is clear plastic with the dash screen printed so each transparent layer allows a different level of light to shine through so the numbers glow etc.
I discovered that you could soon remove this painted layer from the plastic with a brillo pad and finally some Jif liquid.
Then I printed out a double layered hi quality inkjet fascia using thick photo paper and glued it to the plastic with prit stick. It's lasted 12 months now and has faded very slightly but works well enough with the figures shining through white and the 30 and 70 in red.
I have some photos somewhere, I'll add into the gallery.
