I was knocked of my bike this afternoon. I was filtering past a line of stationary cars when one decided to take a short cut down a side road and made a right turn out of the stationary cars. He said he indicated but I didn't see it because of the car close behind him. Anyway he turned out just as I was passing him . I sort of slid along the side of the car in slow motion and then onto the road.
I went to hospital with painful ribs. They checked me over and gave me some strong painkillers and said if the pain lasts for 2-4 weeks I have bruised my ribs, if it lasts for 4-6 weeks I have cracked them!
The bike is a right mess, will post some photos when I am up to it. It will definitely is definitely spelled definitely be an insurance job.
It looks like a race to who will be fit first me or my X9

Get well soon joyce - glad to hear you've lived to tell the tale so to speak. Sorry to hear about the damage but at least bikes can be repaired or replaced. I've only been back on the road three days - I'd almost forgotten how bad most drivers are and how little regard they have for the rest of us. hope your all fixed up soon Andy

He said he indicated but I didn't see it
But he clearly wasn't checking his mirror! Either way, he was driving without due care. Why do drivers believe that indicating gives them a right of way? Hope the pains ease soon.

Get well soon. It doesn't matter if he signalled, he still should have looked.

Neither does indicating give him right-of-way. Good article in the MAG magazine this month about Filtering/Overtaking. Not sure if there's a link.

Hi joyce sorry to hear about the accident, hope your feeling better soon.
There was an article in the sun today about a motorcyclist came up to stationary traffic, and there was no oncoming traffic, he pulled out into the opposite lane by 2 thirds, and was travelling between 30-40 mph. When a stationery car decided to pull out to do a u-turn, and hit the motorcyclist 3 highcourt judges decided the driver of the car was 100% at fault. It was decided it was a landmark case for future reference.
Anyway take care Joyce,
Wayne

That's good news...NOT your accident, I mean what Wayne said. Most cagers use the SMM rule, signal, manoeuvre, mirror. Was it a BMW by any chance? Get well soon and if your bike is written off, on one so new and low miles you should get a full replacement making it your 5th X9 in as many years!! You can stop now, you already have the record

I was knocked of my bike this afternoon. So sorry you've come a cropper. It's an unfunny thing, but some people think that using an indicator absolves them from looking in the mirrors (plural). Mirror, Indicator, Manoeuvre. Strange how a lot of people forget, usually younger ones! I hope you will be able to rest a while, it's not funny as one gets longer in the tooth. Get Well Soon. Bert

Get well soon Joyce. I had a pretty bad accident just over 2 years ago. Fell asleep on my 750 BMW going at 106kph. Put me in intensive care for 2 weeks. The worse part of all was that my beautiful BM was a complete write off. The best part was that I brought a new X9 500. Didn't put me off riding, nor will your accident either I'm sure. Trust you will repair soon.

Hot damn!
Glad to hear you survived.
Next item of business is for him to pay for damages.. I'd hate to see you out of pocket by even one penny when he's 100% wrong. Not to mention medical expenses, time off work, the pain, the pain, etc..
Keep us informed.
Best regards,
PaulK.
