I did have 3 X9 250SL Carbs, gave one away to help a fellow X9 rider, the backup one I just found out fell down back of the cupboard in the garage and been sitting puddle of water for 2 years, its prob knackered with rust.

Trying to find another on eBay is impossible, does anyone know if there is a working replacement carburetor ( not original ) that fits and works on the X9 250SL?

But last 3 changes iv taken the measurements to my local bearing place and they do me a set for £20.00 - Heavy duety

Toke the X9 out for a spin, nice little trip up to the cafe, loved the roads but she is getting old or needs replacement suspension, ( think shocks are old ) very hard rocky ride on bumps, but nice to get a blast, toke her on the motorway to open her up a bit and did quite well, hit 80 during an overtake but I think speed-0 was been a bit optimistic, exited on to some countryside back roads then had a coffee at the cafe.

Got home to a biker friend giving me some locks to make the X9 more secure, got in and got all my gear off to face a coughing fit because of my lungs and the riding, but worth it for a bit of a ride, hoping to replace the X9 fork springs and rear shocks on the bike to give the bike back it comfy riding and take a ride to the lake district and Keswick.

Mine did same, long time in cold unused and started up no problem, good X9s, sometimes Old mite need more work but still the best

Getting on well with my renovation of the 03 250sl, rear end complete. I'm moving to the steering problem, feeling notchy so may be needing replacement bearings.
Any directions on where to buy them?
I found this but not sure if it's correct.

The better lithium types have there own voltage and/or current controls built into the battery,,,but i would ask before fitting one to an older machine.

Bikes and cars are designed for lead acid batteries, be the wet or gel type.
Ni-cad, lithium etc require different charging voltage and/or current controls. I would not try to fit anything other than the original type as I think there could be a lot of problems/damage.
