Title: XEvo 400 fuel consumption
Post by: loonymoon on August 04, 2010, 18:13:44
I've been tracking the fuel consumption of my XEvo since day 1 and it's first full tank. 3456 miles in and 21 tankfuls of fuel later I'm still very impressed

Given that most of my riding is commuting with both high speed sections and filtering, the XEvo returned an average of 71.8mpg over those tankfuls with a minimum of 67.9mpg and a max of 76.9mpg. I'm getting an average of 163 miles out of a tank  (going until about 1- 1.5L remains).

In all that's about 10 miles per tank (or 5mpg) more than I used to get from the X8 400ie for exactly the same sort of riding. Lovely!

I for one am still loving my XEvo, and the fuel economy is superb considering that I think the performance of the 400 master engine is also very good. Especially considering I had it off the speedo scale briefly a few days ago (over an indicated 110mph.....  ) not something I do often but....

Thinking about a J-costa variator though...... :ebay:

Hiya Loony, it may be worth remembering that nothing is for nothing. Any increase in performance will be paid for with reduced mpg. ;)

Yes, true, though the rather badly translated page on the Jcosta seems to suggest it improves fuel eco.... how I don't know! I think Jim has experience with Jcosta I wonder what his take on that is.
